The Flowing Hair Half Dollar was struck for only two years from 1794 to 1795. The mintage level for these early half dollars was quite modest, but larger when compared to other early coins of the United States Mint.
The 1794 half dollar is considerably rarer than the second date of issue. The 1795 is often acquired by collectors seeking to have one example of the type. Either issue represents an important milestone in the coinage of the young nation.
